Rickard Recreation Complex Bowmanville Museum Ken Hooper Fire Hall - Station #1 Orono Orono Armouries Orono Fire Station Orono Town Hall Clarke Library Clarke Museum Newcastle Villaqe Newcastle Community Town Hall 709 it PAGE 3 REPORT NO. : TR-5-96 QUOTATION Q95-12 i Part "B" covers the mechanical equipment located at the following facilities : I i Bowmanville Animal Control Shelter Tourist Information Centre I i Enniskillen Enniskillen Fire Station #5 Newcastle Village Newcastle Fire Station Brownsdale Community Centre Darlington Hampton Municipal Building Courtice Fire Station Darlington Arena Under the general terms and conditions of Quotation Q95-12 , the Municipality may without invalidating the bids, award the contract in whole, or in part, whichever is in the best interest of the Municipality of Clarington. The total expenditure for this contract for 1995 was approximately $28 , 000 . 00 . Of this total, only $3 , 487 . 00 was for preventative maintenance, the combined total bid price for Part "A" and "B" . Any emergency repairs that maybe requested are �e ve charged t the total bid amounts for Part "A ' and Part B 1 a hourly rate . Of the $24 , 513 . 00 total for emergency repairs, approximately $14, 708 . 00 is for labour and the balance of $9 , 805 . 00 is for parts . 710 REPORT NO. : TR-5-96 PAGE 4 QUOTATION Q95-12 The price bid for Part "A" and "B" represent an approximate 220-. increase and 13% decrease respectively over the price bid for the 1994/95 contract . The low bidder for Part "B" , Jack Burgess Plumbing and Heating was awarded this contract for the 1994/95 season with satisfactory service being provided. The low bidder for Part "A" Robert E. Jackson Heating Electrical ectrical � and Air Conditioning was also awarded this contract for the 1994 season, however, staff have some concerns with respect to the level of service provided. On several occasions, no response was received from the contractor when service was requested and follow- up calls were required. In addition, staff is of the opinion that repeat service calls were required to fix the same problem, when one call should have been sufficient . Subsequently, it is staff' s recommendation that Part "A" be awarded on a six month trial basis with the performance of the contractor being monitored by staff . A report with recommendations for the final six months of the contract will be presented to Council upon completion of the probationary period if necessary or if service is found to be unsatisfactory. The subject firm is aware of the conditions of this award. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation. i i After further review and analysis of the quotations, it was j mutually agreed by the Purchasing Manager and the Property Manager I that Robert E .
