Subject: CL 9 7-10, TWO (2) ONLY CAB AND CHASSIS, 39, 000 G.V.W.
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-54-97 be received;
2 . THAT Winslow-Gerolamy Motors, Peterborough, Ontario, with a
total bid in the amount of $232, 839 . 35 (including taxes and
trade-in) , being the lowest responsible bidder meeting all
terms, conditions and specifications of Tender CL97-10, be
awarded the contract to supply two (2) only Cab & Chassis,
39, 000 G.V.W. , as required by the Municipality of Clarington,
Department of Public Works; and
3 . THAT the funds expended be provided from the 1997 Public Works
Fleet Account $#2900-00010-0000 .

BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and invited for the supply and
delivery of two (2) only Cab and Chassis, 39, 000 G.V.W. , as

required by the Department of Public Works .

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

Note: Trade In's: 1. 1986 International Tandem Truck
2. 1986 International Single Axle Truck
Upon review of the alternate bid submitted by Winslow-Gerolamy in
the amount of $220, 279 . 05, it was revealed that the snow equipment
included does not meet the tender specifications both in size and
capabilities .
With respect to the trade-in offered on the existing 1986
International Tandem Truck and 1986 International Single Axle
Truck, it is the opinion of staff the amount proposed is reasonable
and exceeds the amount that would likely be realized at the annual
Regional Auction Sale and recommend that it be accepted.
After further review and analysis of the tender by Public Works and
Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Winslow-Gerolamy Motors,
Peterborough, Ontario, be recommended for the contract to supply
and deliver two (2) only Cab and Chassis, 39, 000 G.V.W. , to the
Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Department of Public
Works .
The required funds will be provided from the approved 1997 Public
Works Fleet Account, and are within the $260, 000 . 00 allocation as
reflected on Page 161, Items 1 and 4 in the 1997 Draft Capital
Budget .

The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendations . Queries with respect to department
needs, specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Director of
Public Works .
The subject firm has previously provided satisfactory service for
the Municipality of Clarington.
