Subject: TENDER CL97-9, FIRE FIGHTER BUNKER SUITS

Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-58-97 be received;
2 . THAT Starfield Safetywear Limited, Oakville, Ontario, with a
total bid in the amount of $24, 702 . 00 (including taxes) , being
the lowest responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions,
and specifications of Tender CL97-9, be awarded the contract
to supply and deliver twenty-four (24) fire fighter bunker
suits, as required by the Municipality of Clarington, Fire
Department; and
3 . THAT the required funds be provided from the approved 1997
Fire Department Capital Budget Account #7102-00007-0520 .
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for the supply and
delivery of twenty-five (25) fire fighter bunker suits, as required
by the Fire Department . Subsequently, tenders were received and
tabulated as follows :

The required funds will be provided from the approved 1997 Fire
Department Capital Budget Account, as reflected on Page 90, of the
1997 Draft Capital Budget . In order to keep the total required
funds within the budget allocation of $25, 000 . 00, the quantity was
reduced from twenty-five (25) to twenty-four (24) .
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Fire Chief .
The subject firm have previously performed satisfactorily for the
Municipality of Clarington.
After further review and analysis of the tender by the Fire
Department and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Starfield
Safetywear Limited, Toronto, Ontario, be recommended for the
contract to supply and deliver twenty four (24) Fire Fighter Bunker
Suits to the Municipality of Clarington, as required by the Fire
Department .
