Subject: TENDER CL97-21, RENOVATIONS TO THE FIRE AND COURT BUILDING
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report TR-80-97 be received;
2 . THAT Kraco Carpentry Service Limited, Bowmanville, Ontario,
with a total bid in the amount of $39, 158 . 00, being the lowest
responsible bidder meeting all terms, conditions and
specifications of Tender CL97-21, Renovations to the
Fire/Court Building;
3 . THAT the funds required be interim financed from the Public
Works Parks Maintenance Reserve Fund Account #1110-00156-0000 ,
4 . THAT when funding is received from the Canada Ontario
Infrastructure Works Program, the Public Works Parks
Maintenance Reserve Fund be replenished; and
5 . THAT the attached By-law marked Schedule "A" authorizing the
Mayor and Clerk to execute the agreement be approved.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
Tenders were publicly advertised and issued for the renovations of
the Fire and Court Building.

The tender specifications included stairs, ramps, interior block,
paint, stair enclosure, fire wall, doors, and washrooms . Note,
mechanical alterations will also be required, however, they will be
tendered and reported on to Council within the next few weeks . Any
necessary costs for consulting and architectural services will also
be addressed at that time .

Subsequently, tenders were received and tabulated as follows :

The balance of the funds remaining under the approved Canada
Ontario Infrastructure Works Program is $68, 000 . 00 .
It is recommended that the required funds be interim financed from
the Public Works Parks Maintenance Reserve Fund Account $#1110-
00156-0000, and that this account be replenished when funding is
received from the Canada Ontario Infrastructure Works Program.
The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs
with the recommendation. Queries with respect to department needs,
specifications, etc . , should be referred to the Property Manager.
The subject firm have previously performed satisfactorily for the
Municipality of Clarington.
After further review and analysis of the tender by the Property
Manager and Purchasing, it was mutually agreed that Kraco Carpentry
Services, Bowmanville, Ontario, be recommended for the contract for
the renovations to the Fire and Court Building.

SCHEDULE "A"
THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON
BY-LAW NUMBER 97-
Being a By-law to authorize a contract between Kraco
Carpentry Service Limited, Bowmanville, Ontario, for the
Renovations of the Fire and Court Building.
THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON HEREBY
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the
Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington, and seal with the Corporation Seal,
a Contract between Kraco Carpentry Service Limited and said Corporation; and
2. THAT this agreement attached hereto as Schedule "A" form part of this By-law.
By-law read a first and second time this day of September, 1997.
By-law read a third time and finally passed this day of September, 1997.
