THAT Report TR-89-97 be received; 2 . THAT a purchase order be issued to Laerdal Medical Canada Ltd. , for one (1) defibrillator at a total price of $5, 750 . 00 (including taxes) as required by the Municipality of Clarington Fire Department; 3 . THAT the required funds be drawn from the Fire Department Reserve Account #2900-00014-0000; and 4 . THAT Purchasing By-law #94-129, Paragraph 5 . 06, be waived for this purchase as well as the purchase of the remaining required defibrillators; FORTHWITH. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: In April, 1997, Council endorsed the participation of the Clarington Fire Department in the defibrillation program. To date, the Fire Department have raised approximately $23 , 000 . 00 of the $70, 000 . 00 objective . It is anticipated that a total of five (5) defibrillators will be required at a purchase price of $5, 000 . 00 each, plus taxes . The required funds will be drawn from the Fire Department Reserve Account #2900-00014-0000 . 0 PAPEEDYCEE I 1141S IS PRI-DON RECYCLED PAPER REPORT NO. : TR-89-97 PAGE 2 For compatibility reasons, it is recommended that the same equipment as is presently being used by the Ministry of Health, and other neighbouring Municipalities such as the Town of Whitby, Town of Ajax, and the City of Oshawa, be purchased. It is therefore recommended that the Purchasing By-law ##94-129, Paragraph 5 . 06, be waived. As training on the units is scheduled to commence within the next three to five weeks, the purchase of one (1) defibrillator is required immediately. The balance of the defibrillators will be ordered as required. The Treasurer has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation.
