SUBJECT: Amendment No. 25 to the Durham Regional Official Plan
Addition of Policy 9.2.4
Retail and Personal Service Uses within The Small Urban
Area
BACKGROUND:
In October of this year, the Town received a copy of Amend-
ment No. 25 to the Durham Regional Official Plan and a letter informing
the Town that the Planning Committee of Regional Council adopted the
following recommendation of the Committee on October 3, 1979:
"That the amendment regarding retail and personal
service uses within Small Urban Areas, File 79-32D(25),
be approved as Amendment No. 25 to the Durham Regional
Official Plan and the necessary by-law be passed; and
further, that the Township of Brock, Uxbridge and Scugog
and the Town of Newcastle be so advised."
Amendment No. 25 is presently being submitted to the Minister
of Housing for approval.
Staff reported directly to Council October 9, 1979, when it
was recommended:
"That the Town of Newcastle request the Region of
Durham to prepare procedures for the processing of
Official Plan Amendments initiated by the Region..."

RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning and Development Committee recommend to
Council that this Report be received for information.
