(416) 263-2231 REPORT TO THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING of Sept. 17, 1979 REPORT NO.: P159-79 SUBJECT: Parking Requirements, Restricted Area (zoning) By-law Number 1587, as amended, of the former Town of Bowmanville BACKGROUND: The Bowmanville Zoning By-law, which was enacted in 1955, requires the provision of one parking space for each four hundred square feet of gross floor area used for industrial purposes. This standard was established when industry was more labour intensive than it is at present. In recognition of this fact, the Council of the day passed By-law 78-82, thereby reducing the parking requirements applicable to the Marwood Industrial Park to one space per 750 square feet of gross floor area. r.TAILi ,IMAMM The present parking requirements of the By-law could dis- courage the location of industry in other areas of Bowmanville. Since the industries located in the Marwood Industrial Park appear to have ample parking for their needs, it is suggested that the parking standards be changed to require one parking space for each 70 square metres I r (10 2 - (approximately 750 square feet) of gross floor area. RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the attached By-law 79- be forwarded to Council for approval. DNS/cc September 4, 1979 Respectfully submitted. *; 41 - D. N.
