SUBJECT: North-South Arterial Road, Bowmanville
File: 0-D-7
BACKGROUND:
On March 19th of this year, staff submitted Report P-47-79
which dealt with the above noted subject matter. The purpose of
that report was to obtain a Council resolution requesting the Region
to defer the preparation of an amendment to the Durham Regional Official
Plan which would designate Training School Road as a future arterial
road. This proposed amendment was initiated as a result of a Regional
Council decision which selected Training School Road contrary to the
Regional Planning Staff recommendation that the future arterial should
be Cemetery Road and Mearns Road.

In January of this year Mr. L. Kristof discussed this matter with
Regional staff and was of the opinion that the location of the future

north-south arterial should not be finalized until after the completion
of the Bowmanville Urban Area Plan. The result of these discussions
was staff report P-47-79 which was tabled on March 19, 1979 pending
receipt of additional information from one of the Councillors. Therefore,

the matter has not yet been dealt with.
RECOMMENDATION:
That Planning and Development Committee lift Resolution PD-160-79
from the table and deal with it at this time.
