REPORT TO THE COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 2.5, 1983
REPORT NO. : PO-108-83
SUBJECT: CLOCA INTERIM WATERSHED PLAN REVIEW COMMITTEE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that Council adopt the
following recommendations:

1. That Report PD-108-83 be received ; and
I
2. That the Director of Public Works and the
i
Director of Planning be designated as the Town of
Newcastle representatives on the Central Lake
Ontario Conservation Authority Interim Watershed
Plan Review Committee; and
3. That the Central Lake Ontario Conservation
i
Authority be so advised.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT
At its meeting of July 25, 1983, Council considered a

letter from Mr. W. M. Campbell , General Manager, CLOCA,
dated June 13, 1983. Council resolved (Resolution
#C-498-83) to refer the letter to staff for a report.
This report has been prepared as the result of Council 's
direction.

As indicated in the letter, a copy of which is attached to
this report, CLOCA has proposed the establishment of a
Committee consisting of staff representatives from appro-
priate agencies to review the Authority's Interim Water-
shed Plan and to produce a finalized version of the Plan by
the end of October 1983.
It is recommended that the Directors of Public Works and
Planning be designated as the Town's representatives on
the Review Committee, in as much as these two departments
are the most directly affected by, and most familiar with
the proposed watershed plan.

The Authority proposes to endorse its working edition of a
watershed plan as an INTERIM WATERSHED PLAN for submission to the
Ministry of Natural Resources.
It is further proposed that a REVIEW COMMITTEE consisting of
staff representatives from the Ministry, each municipality, and the
Authority will be established to produce a finalized revision of the
WATERSHED PLAN not later than the end of October, 1983•
Accordingly, we would request that your municipality designate
appropriate individuals to sit on this committee and advise this office
of your selection at your earliest convenience.
