landuse plans for the Hamlets as amendments to the Town of Newcastle
Official Plan. Staff concur with this approach inasmuch as it provides an
appeal mechanism not presently available with respect to Council approved
Hamlet Plans.
Accordingly, Staff have been reviewing the various existing approved Hamlet
Plans in order to ascertain the necessary changes to permit adoption as
amendments or modifications to the Town of Newcastle Official Plan presently
under consideration by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs. Bearing this in
mind, we are not yet in a position to submit for Council approval a final
draft of the Hampton or Orono Landuse Plans, however, when such plans are
brought forward further Public Meetings would be appropriate in order to
allow further resident input to these plans.
With respect to the details of park development, these are not normally
considered as part of the Development Plans, however, allocations for
parkland will be provided within such plans. The detailed Development Plan
for a particular park block will be prepared by the Community Services
Department in consideration of the request from the Hampton Community
Assocation and acquisition and development determined through either the
subdivision or capital budget approval process.
