SUBJECT: MUNICIPAL STREET ADDRESSES
ORONO ESTATES
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-85-86 be received.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:
As the Members of Council will recall , in February of this year, Staff conducted a survey
of the residents of Orono Estates in order to assess the need and/or support for changes
to the house numbering system currently in use within that subdivision. Eighty-four (84)
questionnaires were mailed out and fifty-six (56) responses were received. This
represents a sixty-six percent (66%) response rate which is an extremely useful sample
size as far as surveys are concerned. Of those responding an overwhelming majority (76%)
did not support any change to the numbering system currently in use.
In accordance with the intent of the policy, which is to minimize disruption to residents
by retention, wherever practical , of existing commonly used street addresses and in view
of the overwhelming opposition to any change, Staff are not recommending an alteration to
the existing house numbering in Orono Estates and will accordingly incorporate the
