That Report PD-112-85 be received for information . BACKGROUND AND COMMENT: At the Committee meeting of July 2, 1985, the Committee resolved to request information in respect of development charges in other area municipalities within the Region of Durham. Staff conducted a telephone survey of the other municipalities and have prepared the * attached chart which illustrates the relationship between development charges from municipality to municipality. It can be observed from this chart that the Town of Newcastle has the lowest per unit lot levies for the Region of Durham and with respect to building permit fees, given a typical construction value of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) for a new dwelling, the Town has the r' lowest permit fees for any of the major urban centres and only Scugog and Uxbridge would have lower building permit fees. ` U11 . . .2 REPORT NO. : PD-112-85 Page 2 Similarly, with the exception of the municipalities of Scugog and Uxbridge, the Town has the lowest plumbing permit fees of any of the Regional municipalities. I note, for the Committee's information, that the matter of building and plumbing permit fees is presently under review by Staff with a view to recommending some slight adjustments to bring, at least, the plumbing permit fees into line with the rates charges by other municipalities. espectful m ed, i T.T.
