SUBJECT: REZONING APPLICATION - MARIO VELTRI AND SON LIMITED
LOT 96, BLOCK 'N' , GRANT PLAN, QUEEN STREET, BOWMANVILLE

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee
recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-173-85 be received; and
2. THAT an application submitted by Mr. Aldo Riva, agent, to rezone a parcel of land
being Lot 96, Block 'N' , Grant Plan , Bowmanvi,lle, to permit the development of a
Senior Citizen apartment building (52 units) , be received and referred to Staff for
processing and a subsequent report and public hearing.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
On November 4, 1985, the Planning Department received an application, submitted by Mr.
Aldo Riva, agent, to rezone a parcel of land located in Lot 96, Block 'N' , Grant's Plan,
* Bowmanville (see attached) . The submission of the rezoning application is to permit the
development of a Senior Citizen apartment building (52 units) .
The application has been circulated to various agencies and Town departments for their
* comments (see attached) . Staff would note for the Committee' s information that the
applicant has submitted, to the Region of Durham, an Official Plan Amendment application
to permit the development.

It is recommended that the application be received for information and referred
back to Staff for a subsequent report. At such time as the necessary
circulation has been completed, Staff shall schedule this application for a
public meeting of the General Purpose and Administration Committee pursuant to
the requirements of the Planning Act.

The Town of Newcastle Planning and Development Committee is considering an
application for an amendment to Zoning By-law # 84-63 and, pursuant to its
procedure for processing applications, wishes to obtain your comments before
submitting its recommendations to the Town of Newcastle General Purpose and
Administration Committee.
