SlEJECT: STATUS REPORT - STUDY OF
HAMLETS OF HAMPTON & ORONO
FILES: OP 3.4 AND OP 3.11

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration
Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-144-88 be received for information.

REPORT:
1. Proctor and Redfern Group, Consulting Engineers and Planners were retained
by the Town of Newcastle to conduct planning studies for the Hamlets of
Hampton and Orono.
2. The purpose of this Report is to provide Committee and Council with respect

to the progress of these studies.
3. On June 10, 1988, Staff met with the Consultants who presented findings
pertaining to various background information and analysis. These include
existing land use data, population and employment data, development
constraint mapping and traffic information, servicing information, well
records, storm drainage, parking, valleyland analysis etc.

4. We expect the Consultant to finalize the background report within the
next couple of weeks. After that, various scenarios will be developed
to address the future growth potential of these hamlets. Staff will be
presenting these development alternatives to Committee and OoouoiI as
onoo as they are available; possibly before the end of July.
5. At this timer the Study is on time and progressing satisfactory.
Assuming no unforeseen circumstances, we should be in a position to
bold public meetings in September to solicit ioDoto from the public.
