Hughes, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT the minutes of the Council meeting held on March 7, 1966 be approved. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-171 Moved by Con. Hughes, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT the minutes of the Finance Committee meetings held on March 11 and 15, 1966 be approved. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-172 Moved by Con. Chant, seconded by Deputy Reeve Fice. THAT the minutes of the Public Property Committee held on March 10, 1966 be approved. "CARRIED" Mr. R. Dykstra appeared with members of the West End Business Men's Association in support of their request to Council for financial assistance with the maintenance of the West End Parking Lot. Council pointed out that they had no authority for expending public funds on private property, but cited cases where Town equipment had been loaned under certain conditions. With re- gard to the use of the parking lot by Arena patrons, it was suggested that the Association meet with the Arena Commission. Resolution #C-173 Moved by Con. Resolution #C-176. Moved by Con. Rundle, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT the Roads and Streets Committee investigate the matter and report back. "CARRIEDlt Mr. Russell Branch inquired from Council as to the status of a storm sewer project on Prospect Street. Mr. Branch was advised that the storm sewer was included in this years program. A question of widening Veterans Avenue North was referred to the Roads and Streets Committee for investigation. Mr. Harold Wheeler inquired whether a report had been made on garbage collection at West Beach. Mr. Wheeler was advised that Council was meeting with the Planning Board to consider the matter. THAT the resolution from the City of London with regard to re- cruitment of personnel for the public health field be received and filed. THAT the 1966 requisition from the Bowmanville Public School Board be referred to the Finance Committee and that the Com- mittee meet with the Board on the matter. THAT Deputy Reeve Fice represent Council at the Ontario Munici- pal Board hearing in Port Hope, March 26, 1966 relative to the proportion of liability which each municipality shall bear with in the Durham County District High School Board area. THAT the Welfare Administrator attend the annual convention of the Welfare Officers' Association in Ottawa, June 6, 7, and 8, 1966. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-184 Moved by Con. Hughes, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT information received by the Equitable Income Tax Foundation with regard to tax discrimination be received and filed. Bourke, seconded by Con. Nicks. THAT Council appoint a representative to the Bowmanville Chamber of Commerce. "CARRIED" The Mayor appointed Councillor A. Oke as representative. With regard to the Bowmanville Chamber of Commerce and :Christmas lighting, Council reviewed the action taken by last years Council. Resolution #C-186 Moved by Con. Rundle, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT the Clerk be instructed to reply to the Chamber of Commerce advising of an earlier decision to refer their request to the Public Utilities Commission and that a letter be written to the Public Utilities Commission referring the matter to them for consideration. THAT the request by the Canadian Cancer Society for permission to hold their annual drive for funds on Monday, April 18 to Monday, April 25, 1966 inclusive, be granted. THAT the third and final reading of By-law No. 1957, being a by-law to authorize the purchase of land required for the establishment of industry in the Town of Bowmanville and to provide for the borrowing of $30,000.00 upon debentures there- fore, be approved.
