Hobbs in the Chair. Present: Mayor Deputy Reeve Councillors Ivan M. Hobbs W. Fice J. Bourke K. Nicks E. Rundle Mrs. A. Oke G. Hughes M. Prout Absent: Reeve S. Little Resolution #C-2Il Moved by Con. Oke, seconded by Con. Rundle. THAT the minutes of the regular meeting of Council, held on May 1, 1967, be approved. ltCARRIED" Resolution #C-212 Moved by Con. Rundle, seconded by Con. Oke. THAT the minutes of the Board of Works Committee meeting held on May 30, 1967 be approved with the exception of resolution #BW-60 which resolution be referred back to the committee. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-213 Moved by Con. Bourke, seconded by Con. Nicks. THAT the minutes of the Industrial Committee meeting, held on May 30, 1967, be approved. "CARRIEDlt Mrs. Victoria Frank rose to speak to Council to request consideration be given for the losses which are too much for her to bear, arising out of the backing up of a sanitary sewer on Scugog Street. Mrs. Frank was advised that the matter could only be considered by the Public Utilities Commission. (Mrs.) Margot Samuels requested permission to question Council on some of the aspects of the proposed police and fire station. Answers to the points raised by Mrs. Samuels were made by Stan Roscoe, Architect and Al Stienstra, Consulting Engineer. Mr. Stuart McTavish also asked questions pertaining to the proposed building. Mr. Kenneth Hooper spoke in support of the new building and listed unsatisfactory conditions in the old hall. e e - 2 - Mr. Douglas L. Gower appeared to advise Council that in the matter of his application to conduct auctions in the Vermuellen barn on King Street West, he would be able to accommodate up to 100 cars. Auctions in THAT a report on the effects upon traffic at the location Vermuellen of the Vermuellen barn should an auction be held there, barn re traffic be obtained from the Chief of Police. "CARRIED" Mr. Kenneth Hooper spoke in praise of the Building Inspector for his work in arranging and supervising the conduct of renovations at the Memorial Arena. Resolution #C-215 Moved by Con. Recommendations THAT Council agree to the recommendations of the Bowmanville of Bowmanville Planning Board contained in their letter dated May 12, 1967, Planning Board relative to development in residential zoned areas being re residential thoroughly considered by Council and the Board before being zoned areas proceeded with. !'CARRIED" Legion - re car draw Resolution #C-2l7 Moved by Con. THAT the Roads and Streets Committee be empowered to establish the 1967 sidewalk programme within the budgetted allotment. "CARRIED" The Clerk-Controller to ensure policing of the municipal dump in attempt to control fires. Road Closing "BE IT RESOLVED that this Council consider at its regular Resolution meeting to be held on Tuesday, the 4th day of July, 1967, ~ a By-law for the closing and sale of that part of the road shown on the Plan of Queen's Block, south of Queen Street and running easterly along the south boundary of the said Queen's Block south of the former Canadian National Railway freight shed and north of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant from the east limit of Queen's Avenue for a distance of approximately 850 feet to Lot 30, Queen's Block; AND THAT the Clerk be instructed to publish the required Notice of such by-law in the Canadian Statesman and that the Town Solicitors be instructed to prepare the ne~essary By-law. ltCARRIED" Adjournment Resolution #C-251 Moved by Con.
