THAT the minutes of the Police Committee meeting held on
June 28, 1967, be approved as printed.

Mr. K. Hooper rose to state that proposed emergency measures
organization radio equipment for installation in the fire
hall and one fire truck were not necessary. In cases of
emergency he cited the advantages offered by "ham" radio
operators.
Gordon V. Wright, Emergency Measures Organization, Co-ordinator,
stated that the installation would be at no cost to the
municipality except through its' County Levy. The radio
frequency available would be one used by fire departments
throughout the Province.

Mr. K. Hooper rose to speak to Council, claiming that he was
not speaking as a member of a union or to oppose the Goodyear
Tire and Rubber Company being sold the road allowance, but to
suggest that public land should not be given away without a
commitment of its intended use. Mr. Hooper went on to state
that the land should be used for production expansion and not
privileged parking.
Mr. R. T. Sminlek, counsel for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber
Company stated that the Company in purchasing adjoining land
from the Canadian National Railway had detemined that there
were doubts existing as to ownership of the road allowance
and that the land was required for security reasons and not
for privileged parking.
Also present were H. G. MacNeill, Vice President, J. T.
Taylor, Plant Hanager and D. Gilhooly, Personnel l-lanager,
all representatives of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

THAT it be resolved by the Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Bo~nanville, that the Town of Bowclanville make
application under Section 92 of The Registry Act to permanently
close parts of streets and lanes as shown on the Smart Plan
of subdivision of part of Township Lot IO in the Broken Front
Concession made by L. H. Shortt, P.L.S. dated the 4th day of
May, l85S and now in the Town of Bowmanville, in the County of
Durham more particularly described as follows:
Firstly: that part of George Street lying between Blocks 1 and
2 and the lane lying between the south limits of said Blocks
1 and 2, the south end of George Street and the Canadian
National Railways right-of-way contained within those lands
described in Parcel (I) in Instrument #N175Sl registered on
the 13th day of September 1962, and Secondly that part of
John Street lying between Blocks "0" and "plt, George Street
lying between Blocks ltp" and "Q" and between Blocks "N" and
"K", and Fourth Street running westerly from Simpson Ave.,
and the lane running northerly through the centre of Blocks
"K" and "Q", all contained within those lands described in
Parcel (3) in the aforesaid Instrument #N1758l.
AND THAT the Mayor and Clerk be directed and authorized to
sign any documents in connection with the said application.
