Minutes of the regular meeting of Council held in the Town
Hall on the above date at 7:30 p.m., with His Worship, Hayor
Ivan M. Hobbs, in the Chair.

Moved by Con. Oke, seconded by Con. Rundle.
THAT the minutes of the regular meeting of Council held on
October 2, 1967, be approved as printed.

Messrs N. McMechan and Don McGregor appeared as a delegation
from the Chamber of Commerce to request the assistance and
co~operation of Council to expand the Christmas lighting on
Main Street. The Chamber's funds are limited and a grant of
$500 was requested which would greatly assist the extension
of lighting.

THAT a Committee consisting of 2 representatives of Council,
2 from the Ch~lber of Commerce and the Public Utilities
Commissioners including the P.U.C. Manager and the Clerk,
meet as soon as possible to study a co-operative plan for
Christmas lighting.

Mayor Hobbs appointed Deputy Reeve Fice and Councillor M.
Prout as Council representatives.

Province assuming 100% of the cost of education.

to O.H.C. the Ontario Housing Corporation for $7,000 for the purpose of
constructing senior citizen accommodation.

THAT approval be granted to the sale to Mr. and Mrs. R. Hayes,
interested parties, for all accrued taxes to date~,plus
interest and penalties and costs on property registered under
Tax Registration No. 3-63.

on Town Land that sewer and water extensions be the responsibility of

Abolish
Poll Tax

THAT it be recommended to next year's Council to abolish the
poll tax levy.

The Mayor called a Special Meeting of Council to be held at
8:00 p.m. on the 31st day of October, 1967 for the purpose of
receiving the Plunkett report on matters relating to the
Public Utilities Commission.

High School

THATCouncila.gree to the Reeves and Clerks of municipalities
comprising the High School district attending a meeting to be
held as soon as possible, with Council, Public School Board
and Department of Education representatives on the proposal
to sell to inGiustry, the Bowmanville High School.
