THAT WHEREAS there is an urgent need for a general study of
urban conditions in the adjacent to the Town of Bowmanville,
in order to determine the future orderly development of the
built-up portion of that area; and
WHEREAS Section 21 of The Planning Act enables a municipality,
with the approval of the Minister of Municipal Affairs, to
enter into an agreement with any governmental authority, or
any agency thereof created by statute, for carrying out
studies relating to the physical condition of the municipality
or part thereof; and

WHEREAS it is provided by Section 33 (1) (h) of the National
Housing Act, 1954, that Central Mortgage and Housing Corpor-
ation may, with the approval of the Governor in Council and
the Government of the Province, make arrangements with a
municipality to conduct special studies relating to the
condition of urban areas; and

WHEREAS it is the policy of Central Mortgage and Housing
Corporation that an application for financial aid for such a
study be a formal request which would normally be provided
through a resolution of council defining the objectives of
the study, and supported by an itemized estimate of cost,
particulars of the technical and other staff required, and
written proof of provincial approval; and
WHEREAS Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation may advance
up to 75% of the approved cost of such a study (as described
on the attached submission) when it is intended to cover an
entire municipality, which for the purposes of this study
includes the whole of the Town of Bowmanville; and
WHEREAS it is estimated that the shareable cost of such a
study will be $14,280, or which amount Central Mortgage and
Housing Corporation would contribute $10,710;
NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Bowmanville resolves as follows:-
1. That the planning board be authorized to prepare and sub-
mit, through the clerk of the mUnicipality, to the
Minister of Municipla Affairs, and to Central Mortgage
and Housing Corporation a detailed submission containing
an itemized estimate of the cost of the study along with
particulars of the study program;
2. That the study be conducted by Comay Planning Consultants
Limited, under the immediate supervision of the planning
board, in order that it may be related to the official
plan of the Town of Bowmanville;
3. That an application be made to the Minister of Municipal
Affairs for approval to the carrying out of such a study;
4. The the Minister of Municipal Affairs be advised of the
Town's intention to make application to Central Mortgage
and Housing Corporation for financial aid to conduct an
urban renewal study, and of the nature of this study, and
that he be requested to arrange approval to the making of
such an application and such a study; and.
5. That an application be made to Central Mortgage and
Housing Corporation, pursuant to Section 33 (1) (h) of
the National Housing Act, 1954, for financial aid in the
amount of $10,710, for the purpose of conducting an ur~an
renewal study in the Town of Bowmanville. The foregoing
amount represents 75% of the shareable costs of this
study, the total shareable cost to be $14,280.

in the total amount of $1,837.30 including Federal and Prov-
incial taxes, for one hundred and twenty (120) fibre glass
stacking chairs be accepted subject to the chairs being invest-
igated by the Architects that they meet the specifications.
