Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held in the Town Hall on the above date at 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of considering the 1968 Estimates. Present: Mayor Reeve Deputy Reeve Councillors Ivan M. Hobbs Mrs. A. Oke E. Rundle. R. Dykstra R. Nichols G. Fry L. Coombes M. Prout K. Shackelton Board of Works Resolution #C-203 Moved by Reeve Oke, seconded by Con. Coombes. THAT the minutes of the Board of Works Committee meeting held on April 1, 1968, be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Finance Minutes Resolution #C-204 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rundle, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the minutes of the Finance Committee meeting held on April 3, 1968, be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Salaries Resolution #C-205 Moved by Con. Fry, seconded by Con. Shackelton. THAT the prior resolution be amended as follows: THAT all salaried employees including Department heads be given a 10% increase in salary excluding the Chief Constable. After the arbitration results between the Corporation of the Town of Bowmanville,and the Bowmanville Police Association are known, the Chief Constable's salary will be amended and made retroactive to January 1, 1968. The foregoing will be discussed at the first Board of Works meeting after the results of arbitration are known. THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law No. 68-12 being a by-law to adopt the estimates of all sums required during the year and to strike the rates of taxation for the year 1968 and that this by-law be now read a first time. THAT the Chief of Police be authorized to attend a one week Seminar at McMaster University, May 12 to 17, 1968 on the subject "Police and the Young Offender".
