Hoskin REGULAR MEETING May 21, 1968 Minutes of a regular meeting of Council held in the Town Hall on the above date at 7:30 p.m. Pre sent: Mayor Reeve Deputy Reeve Councillors Ivan M. Hobbs Mrs. A. D. Oke E. Rundle R. Nichols R. Dykstra G. Fry L. Coombes M. Prout K. Shackelton Resolution #C-256 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Shackelton. THAT the minutes of the Council meeting held on May 6, 1968 be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-257 Moved by Con. Fry, seconded by Con. Prout. THAT the minutes of the Protection to Persons & Property Committee meeting held on May 3, 1968 be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-258 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Deputy Reeve Rundle. THAT the minutes of the Public Works Committee meeting held on May 13, 1968 be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Mr. Wealey Fice appeared to advise Council that on March 10th laat, his wife had an accident on King Street Eaat which ruined a tire and put the car out of alignment. Mr. Fice claimed that the accident was caused by a large hole in the road pavement. He felt that the Town should carry insurance to meet small claims arising out of such accidents. Mr. Archie Hoskin requested Council why he was not given a salary increase comparable to hourly employees. Resolution #C-259 Moved by Con. Nichols, seconded by Reeve Oke. THAT Councillors Coombes and Fry, with the Clerk, meet with Mr. Hoskin to clarify any confusion arising out of the salary paid to him. THAT the request by the Loyal Orange Lodge #2384 to hold their annual Church Parade on Sunday June 23, 1968 be approved and the Police Department be notified accordingly. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-261 Moved by Con. Fry, seconded by Con. Nichols. THAT Councillor Coombes be a representative to attend a meeting for the purpose of forming a Committee to discuss the adding of community facilities in the construction of a new composite school. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-262 Moved by Reeve Oke, seconded by Con. Fry. THAT someone attend the Resuscitation Seminar to be held in Cobourg on Wednesday May 22, 1968. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-263 Moved by Con. Coombes, seconded by Con. Fry. THAT advertising in the Financial Times Industrial Locations Special Issue be referred to the Industrial Commission. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-264 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Fry. THAT Resolution #BW-45 passed April 1, 1968 to prohibit parking on both sides of Prince Street adjacent to the hospital be rescinded. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-265 Moved by Reeve Oke, seconded by Con. Coombes. THAT repayment of outstanding capital charges with respect to street lighting amounting to $11,597.55 over a period of 10 years at an interest rate of 6% per annUlll be approved. THAT the Central Ontario Joint Planning Board Minutes of May 2, 1968 be received and filed. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-268 Moved by Con. Fry, seconded by Con. Shackelton. THAT the 1967 Fire Report be accepted. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-269 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Deputy Reeve Rundle. THAT the previous motion be amended to include that the Chairman of the Protection to Persons & Property Committee bring back a report on the number of meetings and practices held by the Fire Department and how absenteeism is made up. "MOTIOO LOST" Resolution #0-270 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rundle, seconded by Con. Coombes. THAT the Clerk be instructed to open tenders received for the supply of fuel oil to municipal buildings during the heating season 1968-69 and the supply and application of MC 2 Asphalt. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-271 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Shackelton. THAT the lowest tender for fuel oil submitted by Stephen Fuels at 14.9 cents per gallon, be accepted. "CARRIED" Resolution #0-272 Moved by Reeve Oke, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the lowest tender of 26.5 cents per gallon for the supply and application of approximately 10,000 gallons of MC 2 Asphalt submitted by W. A. Ryder Paving Limited, be accepted. "CARRIED" Resolution 1C-273 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT parking be prohibited on the north side of Prince Street between Lambert and Liberty Streets. "CARRIED" Mr. C. THAT reference be made to Town records for information with respect to any permission granted in the past to Mr. Cliff Pethick to use his residence as a base for the carrying on of a business to sell water and if not ~- plete to refer the matter to Strike & Strike and report back to the next Board of Works Conmittee meeting. THAT Councillor Dykstra accompany Councillor Coombes to the meeting with respect to c_unity facilities in the proposed composite school. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-277 Moved by Con. Dykstra. seconded by Deputy Reeve Rundle. THAT the purchase of a van for use by the animal control officer be referred to the Protection to Persons & Property Committee.
