THAT the minutes of the Board of Works Committee meeting held on May 28, 1968 be approved as amended. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-286 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Prout. THAT Resolutions numbered BW-70, BW-75 and BW-78 in the Board of Works Committee minutes dated May 28, 1968 be referred to New and Unfinished Business on the Council Agenda, that the word "condensed" be deleted from Resol- ution #BW-69 and that the seconder of motion #Bw-69 be amended to read "Con. Nichols." "CARRIED" Resolution #C-287 Moved by Deputy Reeve Rundle, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the minutes of the Special Meeting of Council held on May 28, 1968 be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Mr. Stu. McTavish addressed Council requesting that consideration be given to moving item #7, Report on Municipal Fire Protection Survey of the Town of Bowmanvi11e, to the beginning of the agenda. "CARRIEIl" e Lovers Lane Encroachment Hendry Apartment Building Municipal Fire Protection Survey Municipal Fire Protection Survey e - 2 - Under Deputations, Mr. Ken Nicks requested Council to give consideration to resurfacing Lovers Lane due to the surface being broken up in several places. Victor of Creighton, Drynan, Murdoch & Victor, Barristers & Solicitors appeared with respect for a request: for Council approval of an encroachment on Division Street of the property at 53 King Street East:. Resolution DC-290 Moved by Con. Coombes, seconded by Con. Fry. THAT a request to permit the encroachment of a two storey building at 53 King Street on Division Street and King Street be approved. THAT a petition signed by residents of Frank Street com- plaining about conditions of the Hendry Apartment Building on Frank Street be referred to the Building InspectciT,' with power to act if it is deemed necessary. Alexander, Chief, Fire Services Section, Office of the Fire Marshall comment on the Municipal Fire Protection Survey. "CARRIED" Chief Alexander highlighted each recommendation contained in the report and cOllllllented briefly on the reasons for each recommendation. There were a large number of persons present in the Council Chambers with every seat taken and persons standing in the entrance to the Chambers. Mr. Stan ROscoe of Roscoe, MacIver and Stienstra, Architects and Engineer commented on criticism contained in the report concerning the new bUilding. Many questions were directed from the floor to Chief Alexander and to Mr. Roscoe. Resolution DC-293 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the approval of the Minister of Municipal Affairs to carry out an Urban Renewal Study be received and filed and that the Mayor appoint a representative to the joint liaison committee. Fry, seconded by Reeve Oke. THAT the lowest tender submitted by Duane Beers in the amount of $5,870.12 be accepted. "CARRIED" Resolution #<;-339 Moved by Con. Prout, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT all present employees reaching the age of 65 years before December 31, 1969 will retire on December 31, 1969. "CARRIED" The above resolution was clarified further that the policy enunciated excluded policemen and firemen whose retirement age is 60 years but did not include the Chief of Police who would retire at age 65 years. Council agreed to a Special Meeting on Wednesday June 5, 1968 to meet with a representative of the Ontario Housing Corporation with respect to the proposed senior citizen units.
