Minutes of a meeting of Council held in the Court
Building On the above date at 8:00 p.m.

THAT the minutes of the Public Works Committee Meeting
held on October 2, 1968 be approved as printed.

Mr. Mel Burgess enquired of Council about a decision
respecting drainage past his property on Liberty
Street. The matters had been held in abeyance pending
the outcome of discussions between the Counties
Engineer and T.K. Stewart. Deputy Reeve Rundle
promised to speak to the Countie s Engineer on the next
day.
Mr. Forrest Dilling asked questions of Council con-
cerning the manner of acquiring beach property by the
municipality under the tax arrears procedure and as
to the ownership of land in the beach area.

Mr. Gary Cole also spoke to Council concerning the
beach area.
Mr. Len Lucas spoke of "substandard housekeeping" of
certain properties on Jackman Road. It was suggested
that the names of offenders be submitted to the
Clerk for inve stigation.

THAT the complaint of Mr. Lucas be referred to the
Public Works Committee for investigation.

Mr. Frank Whiteman concurred with Mr. Lucas, inviting
members of Council to sit in his living room to view
the nature of his complaint. He has noticed rats in
the area and felt notice should be given requiring
immediate action.
Mr. Robert Milford complained to Council about being
terrorized by young people at the beach. He felt
the dance hall encouraged these people to gather at
the beach which in turn leads to drinking, fighting
and swearing.
