Minutes of a meeting of the Community Services
Committee held on Monday, May 25, 1981 at 9:30
a.m. in the Bell Building Committee Room

THAT the minutes of the meeting of April 27, 1981 be adopted
as read.

Maintenance THAT the Director's report dated May 5, 1981 relative to
Program Maintenance Programne, School Board and Department of
School Board Community Services, be received for information.

Extended THAT the Director's report dated May 7, 1981, relative to
Ice Time Extended Ice Time at Bowmanville Memorial Arena, be received

THAT the report be referred to the Director of Community

April THAT the monthly Fire Report for April, 1981 be received

Fire THAT the Fire Chief prepare a report on the capital needs
Department of the Fire Department enabling them to operate efficiently,
Capital in order to assist the Committee members with a five year
Needs forecast of the department's needs.

Hampton THAT the recommendation in the report of the Deputy Clerk/
Hall Board Committee Secretary be adopted and the following be appointed
1981 to the Hampton Hall Board for 1981:
William Richardson
Herb Hollister
Arthur Morton
Mrs. John Payne
Robert White.

Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Harare
Policy for THAT the policy for summer maintenance of parks, playgrounds
Summer and sports fields in the report of the Community Services
Maintenance of Director dated April 16, 1981, together with the back-up
parks, playgrounds material in report of May 13, 1981, be forwarded to Council
and sports fields for approval.

Agreements THAT the Director, with the Treasurer and legal counsel
re use of property if necessary, confirm that the Town has satisfactory
for parks,play- agreements for insurance purposes and other areas of
grounds and sports responsibility with owners of all property being
fields serviced by the Community Services Department, as
included in the previous resolution, and report back
to this Committee.

Outdoor Pool THAT the Deputy Director's report, dated May 19, 1981
Operation Dates relative to 1981 Outdoor Pool Operation Dates, be
approved.

Newcastle THAT the Director's report dated May 19, 1981 relative to
Fitness Centre closure of Newcastle Fitness Centre from July 27 to July 31
Pool Closure 1981, be received for information.

THAT the previous resolution be amended by adding "Pool"
after Newcastle Fitness Centre.

Community Services Committee - 4 - May 25, 1981
Fire Department The Fire Chief gave a verbal report of a phone call from
Radio Allan Lawrence, M.P. advising that Motorola.would be
Frequency changing the antenna and reviewing and adjusting the
Interference transmission. at East York in an attempt to correct
the interference with the Newcastle frequency.

THAT the verbal report be received for information and
the Committee will await a further report from the Fire
Chief that these changes have been made.

Resolution #CS-92-81
Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Hamre
Park Board THAT a by-law be prepared to replace By-law 2405 of the
Solina former Township of Darlington setting up a Park Board
in Solina and the members be notified to send in five
nominations to the Board, to be confirmed by Council.

Mayor Rickard and Members of Council:-
The following is a report of the meeting of the Community Services Committee held
on May 25, 1981:
1. Maintenance Program - School Board and Department of
Conmunity Services
It was recommended to Council that the Director's report be received for information.
2. Monthly Fire Report - April 1981
It was recommended to Council that the monthly fire report for April 1981 be received
for information.
3. Hampton Hall Board - 1981
It was recommended to Council that the following be appointed to the Hampton Hall Board
for 1981: William Richardson, Herb Hollister, Arthur Morton
Mrs. John Payne, Robert White.
4. Policy for Summer Maintenance
It was recommended to Council that the policy for summer maintenance of parks, playgrounds
and sports fields, in the report of the Cc)ny=ity Services Director date April 16, 1981,

together with the back-up material in report of May 13, 1981, be approved.
5. Outdoor Pool Operation Dates
It was recommended to Council that the Deputy Director's report relative to 1981 Outdoor
Pool Operation Dates, be approved.
6. Newcastle Fitness Centre Pool Closing
It was recommended to Council that the Director's report indicating the closure of the
Newcastle Fitness Centre Pool from July 27 to July 31, 1981, be received for information.
7. Solina Park Board By-law
It was recommended to Council that a by-law be prepared to replace by-law 2405 of the
former Township of Darlington setting up a Park Board in Solina and the members be notified
to send in five nominations to the Board, to be confirmed by Council.
