HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002-118 THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON BY-LAW NO. 2002- 118 being a by-law to approve the maintenance and operation of the public bus transportation system by the City of Oshawa within the Bowmanville area of the Municipality of Clarington WHEREAS at its meeting on March 11, 2002 Council approved the recommendations of the General Purpose and Administration Committee that the recommendations contained in Report #EGD-12-02 entitled`Bowmanville Transit Bus Loop Proposal",be approved; AND WHEREAS paragraph 210 104 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.45, as amended, and subsection 2(1) of the City of Oshawa Act, 1960, S.O. 1960, c.160 enables The Corporation of the City of Oshawa to pass a by-law for maintaining and operating a public bus transportation service, subject to the approval of any adjoining municipality within the limits of such adjoining municipality; AND WHEREAS The Corporation of the City of Oshawa will consider passing a by-law pursuant to paragraph 210 104 of the Municipal Act and subsection 2(1) of the City of Oshawa Act, 1960 to maintain and operate a public bus transportation service within the Bowmanville area of the Municipality as contemplated by Report#EGD-12-02; AND WHEREAS by By-law 47-96, The Corporation of the City of Oshawa authorized the Oshawa Transit Commission to manage, operate, maintain and control its public transportation system, NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Municipality of Clarington enacts as follows: 1. THAT the establishment, maintenance and operation of a public transportation system by The Corporation of the City of Oshawa through the Oshawa Transit Commission within the Bowmanville area of the Municipality of Clarington is approved pursuant to paragraph 210 104 of the Municipal Act,R.S.O. 1990, c.M.45, as amended, and subsection 2(1) of the City of Oshawa Act, 1960, S.O. 1960, c.160. By-law read a first time this 24th day of June, 2002. By-law read a second time this 24th day of June, 2002. By-law read a third time and finally passed this 24th day of June, 2002.
