Subject: TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT OF FENCE VIEWERS
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD-256-91 be received;
2 . THAT Leonard Creamer and Teresa Mason be appointed, by by-
law, as Fence Viewers for the purposes of the Line Fences Act,
on a temporary basis until such time as the Striking Committee
has had an opportunity to appoint new Fence Viewers for the
coming year;
3 . THAT the attached by-law be forwarded to Council for approval.
REPORT
1. 1 The Line Fences Act requires that three Fence Viewers attend to
view and arbitrate disputes and requests made under the Act.
1. 2 The Town had appointed three citizens for this year, however one
of these individuals has taken ill and may be unavailable for some
time. In the interim it will be necessary to have a replacement
available for the Fence Viewing matters which are still
outstanding.
1. 3 In order to fulfil the Town's obligations under the Act, Staff are
requesting that Council temporarily appoint the Municipal Law
Enforcement Officers Leonard Creamer and Teresa Mason, by by-law,
until the Striking Committee has the opportunity to meet and
appoint new Fence Viewers for the Town for the coming year.

BY-LAW 91-
being a by-law to appoint Fence Viewers
for the Town of Newcastle
WHEREAS Section 2 of the Line Fences Act, Chapter 242, R.S.O., 1980, provides that the Council of
every municipality shall, by by-law appoint such number of Fence Viewers as are required to carry out
the provisions of the Act.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
hereby enacts as follows:
1. THAT the following persons are hereby appointed as Fence Viewers for the Town of Newcastle
Leonard Creamer
Teresa Mason
2. THAT the appointments shall be valid until new Fence Viewers are appointed by the new
Council.
