NOTICE e MANVERS ZONING BY -LAW
This is a notice from the Township of Manvers regarding a zoning
amendment which would permit a gravel pit on the north side of the
Clarke - Manvers Boundary Road west of Highway #35. The only implic-
ations for the To -: oi. N. wcastle which I can see arising from this
amendment are traffic implications. Since the Clarke - Manvers Bound -
ary Road is a Regional road (No® %0) ~ ,rc not really involved at all.
Tn any case, the statutory period for objections to be lodged has
already expired (1 days), In fact, the period for objections had
almost expired by the time the notice was referred to this Committee.
Although, we have no great concern with the present zoning amendment,
the occasion may arise in future where Newcastle would wish to lodge
an objection to an adjacent municipality's by-law (eg, a by-law pro-
viding for a mayor regional shopping centre on one of our boundaries)
I would recommend that in future adjacent municipality bylaws should
be sent directly to the Planning Director who would be authorized to
lodge an objection on behalf of the Town if he considered such action
was warranted. Any objection lodged would then be referred to the
Planning Advisory Committee for a recommendation to Council to confirm
or withdraw the objection.
Respectfully submitted,
George F. Howden,
Planning Director.
