BACKGROUND: 1. 1 With respect to the Building Permit Activity for the month of June, 1991 Staff wish to highlight the following statistics for the information of Committee and Council. The number of permits issued is up with a significant jump of 15%. The month of June has provided the activity to surpass last year. Permit revenues have also risen by 10 . 8% over 1990. Single family dwelling units are down slightly, semis and townhouses up, however the overall number of dwelling units is up by 61 for a 27% increase. Construction other than residential has also shown a rise with the biggest change in commercial where permits have more than doubled while the value has quadrupled. The majority of construction activity has occurred in the three urban areas of Bowmanville, Courtice and Newcastle. 1. 3 Details of permit activities and historical comparisons are provided in the attached tables.
