SUBJECT: TOWN OF NEWCASTLE STREET NAME CHANGE 'STAPLETON ROAD' TO 'HALE
ROAD' - ROAD ALLOWANCE BETWEEN LOTS 12 AND 13, CONCESSION 2
AND 3, FORMER TOWNSHIP OF CLARKE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD- 324-89 be received;
2 . THAT the name "Stapleton Road" , as approved by By-law 88-
62, be retained as the name for the road allowance between
Lots 12 and 13 in Concessions 2 and 3, former Township of
Clarke;
3 . THAT staff be authorized to refund Mr. Hale's application fee;
and,
4 . THAT Mr. Hale be advised of Council's decision.
1. BACKGROUND
1 . 1 By correspondence, Mr. Hale requested Council's consideration
to the changing of the name of the road allowance located
between lots 12 and 13, in Concessions 2 and 3, former
Township of Clarke from "Stapleton Road" to "Hale Road" .

2. STAFF COMMENTS
2 . 1 Staff would note for the Committee's information that Council
resolution at its meeting on July 27, 1987, passed the
following resolution:
"THAT the Road Sign Map be amended to remove the name "Hale
Road" in Clarke Township and replace it with the name
"Stapleton Road" . Subsequently, By-law 88-82 was passed on May
30, 1988 changing the name of "Hale Road" to "Stapleton Road" .
2 .2 In view of the fact that Council has only recently made the
decision to change "Hale Road" to "Stapleton Road" , Staff is
of the opinion that no further action be taken on this matter.
2 . 3 Should Committee and and Council concur with Staff's
recommendation, it would be proper to refund the $100 .00
application fee back to Mr. Hale.
