SJB,ECT: TOWN OF NEWCASTLE STREET NAME CHANGE
"LAKEVIEW HEIGHTS" TO "LAKEVIEW ROAD",
IN THE FORMER VILLAGE OF NEWCASTLE
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD- 19-90 be received;

2 . THAT By-law 86-112, being a by-law to establish a Street Name
Map and Street Name Inventory in the Town of Newcastle be
amended to: "Change the name of "Lakeview Heights" to
"Lakeview Road" in the former Village of Newcastle.
3 . THAT Council authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute a by-
law to amend By-law 86-112, being a by-law to establish the
Street Name Map and Street Name Inventory in the Town of
Newcastle.
1. LOCATION:
1. 1 "Lakeview Heights" is located within the former Village of
Newcastle, north of Highway No. 401, west of Baldwin Street
and running southerly off of Sunset Boulevard.
2 . BACKGROUND:
2 . 1 At the meeting held on November 25, 1989, Council of the Town
of Newcastle passed the following resolution:

"THAT the street name "Lakeview Heights" in Newcastle
Village be corrected to "Lakeview Road" and that Staff
be authorized to take the appropriate action to correct
the problem. "
3. PUBLIC NOTICE:
3. 1 Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Act, (the proposed
name) change was advertised for four (4) consecutive weeks
within the local newspapers .
3 .2 The public notice acknowledged that Council shall hear any
person who claims that he/she will be adversely affected by
the by-law and who applied to be heard by contacting the
Clerk's Department.
3 . 3 No written submissions have been received by Staff prior to
the preparation of this report.
3.4 One resident did voice his displeasure with need for the whole
process inasmuch as "Lakeview Heights" has been recognized and
known as "Lakeview Road" for number of years .
4 . CONCLUSION:
4 . 1 The by-law attached to said report would address Council's
concerns and direction.

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW NUMBER 90-
WHEREAS the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle deems it expedient
to amend the street name map and street name inventory for roads
in the Town of Newcastle;
AND WHEREAS such street name map and street name inventory
establishes an official name for all improved roads and those
unimproved roads which receive summer maintenance and are included
in the Roads Needs Study for the Town of Newcastle;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED as a by-law for the Town of Newcastle
as follows:
1. Schedule "A" the street name map, and Schedule "B" the street
name inventory, be amended to:
a) change the name of the road on Registered Plan 656 from
"Lakeview Heights" to "Lakeview Road".

BY-LAW read a third time and finally passed this day of
