Subject: STATUS REPORT ON MUNICIPAL HOUSING STATEMENT
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1 . THAT Report PD-80-91 be received for information.
1. MUNICIPAL HOUSING STATEMENT BACKGROUND REPORT
As Council is aware, the Town of Newcastle is undertaking a
housing study to satisfy the requirements of the provincial
policy statement Land Use Planning for Housing. The Town of
Newcastle Planning and Development Review Department, in
conjunction with Mr. John Cox of J.L. Cox Planning Ltd. , have
completed the background report for the draft Town of Newcastle
Municipal Housing Statement. A copy of the background report
and the principal findings is attached under separate cover.
Mr. John Cox of J.L. Cox Planning will be present at the meeting
in order to provide Council with an overview of the housing
study.
2. AGENCY AND PUBLIC REVIEW OF HOUSING STATEMENT
In order to receive comments from the public and various agencies
on the work completed to date, the Town of Newcastle will host a
question and answer period for various agencies and a "Public
Forum on Housing" for the general public . The "Public Forum on
Housing" will be held on Monday, April 15, 1991 at 7 :30 p.m. The

forum will be held at the Bowmanville Recreation Complex (corner
of Highway No.2 and Regional Road 57) Bowmanville, Ontario. The
Forum will be advertised in the local newspapers .
