THAT Report PD- 217-92 be received; 2 . THAT Staff be authorized to take the appropriate action pursuant to Town policy and the provisions of Section 210 (105) of the Municipal Act, for consideration of the proposed names of Wilmot Creek Road and Lakebreeze Road within Part of Lots 4 and 5, in Broken Front Concession and Concession 1, in the former Township of Darlington 3 . THAT the landowners fronting onto Bennett Road and Wilmot Creek Road be provided notice through direct mail circulation. 1. BACKGROUND 1. 1 The Planning and Development Department received a request from Ridge Pine Park Inc. to change the name of "Bennett Road" to "Wilmot Creek Road" . In addition, in order to avoid the creation of duplicate street names, Ridge Pine Park Inc. has also requested that the existing Wilmot Creek Road" be renamed I'Lakebreeze Road" . 2. 1 BENNETT ROAD The applicant intends to rename Bennett Road to Wilmot Creek Road. Bennett Road runs from Highway No. 2 in a southerly direction and crosses both Highway 401 and the C.P.R. tracks before dead-ending just north of the Lake Ontario shoreline. Staff advise for the Committee's information that Bennett Road is maintained on a year round basis and that fifteen (15) properties would be affected by the name change. 5? 2 . . . . 2 C99 REPORT NO. PD-217 -92 PAGE 2 2 .2 Wilmot Creek Road In order to avoid a duplication, the applicant intends to rename Wilmot Creek Road to Lakebreeze Road. Wilmot Creek Road runs parallel to Highway 401 from Bennett Road to the entrance to the Wilmot Creek retirement community after which the roadway is a private road. The municipal portion of Wilmot Creek Road is maintained on a year round basis and Staff note that three (3) properties would be affected by the name change, although two (2) of the properties are owned by the applicant. 2 . 3 In reviewing any names for consideration, the Town is required to co-ordinate and approve all street names with the Region of Durham to insure there will be no duplication of street names with neighbouring municipalities. Upon contacting the Regional Planning Department, Staff were advised that the proposed street name changes would be acceptable. 3 . CONCLUSION Staff will proceed with the appropriate newspaper advertisements for four (4) consecutive weeks in accordance with the procedures set out in the Municipal Act.
