BOWMANViLLE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA
Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Management held at 6:30 p. m.
on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 in Committee Room 1-C in the Bowmanville
Library.
Present: Gilpin, Patterson
Members: Barry, Hooper, Mulder, Holmes, Rezazada
Absent: Lucas, Johnston, Seaton
The meeting was called to order by Barry who reported that Lucas had
asked him to act as Chairman for the meeting. He then recognized that there
were no delegations present.
Moved by Hooper, seconded by Holmes,
THAT the Minutes of the previous meeting be adopted as circulated.
"CARRIED"
The correspondence received was not available at the meeting.
The Treasurer presented his report as follows:

GIC #2 55244.92
Total $107,020.09
Moved by Mulder, seconded by Holmes,
THAT the Treasurer's Report be adopted as presented. "CARRIED"

Reports:
Council Liaison: Hooper reported that he had received an email from Art
Bain, Divisional Services Officer, DRPS Clarington, who will be speaking
on "Fraud Prevention" in Newcastle, on Thursday, June 14 from 7 till 9 P.
m. He went on to say that he had learned that the CIBC were currently
rethinking their proposed move to the West end. Hooper concluded his
report by announcing that Creative Outdoor Advertising was putting new
waste receptacles in the Downtown, replacing the ones currently in use.
They are of a more attractive design.
Events: Mulder reported that the Summerfest, featuring the Sidewalk Sale,
will take place on June 21, 22 and 23, and will include the Car Show on
Saturday.
Membership Relations: No report.
Streetscape: Hooper reported that the planters now have flowers, paid for
by the Bowmanville BIA and planted by the Bowmanville Horticultural
Society.
Communications: Holmes reported that the manager of the Second Chance
store has agreed to be a block captain, replacing Monica Scott who did the
job well for many years.
Publications: No report.
Board of Trade: No report.
Website: Rezazada reported that she was able to copy the events posters on
to the website, and would do so beginning with the current Sununerfest
poster.
Under "BUSINESS ARISING" from the previous meeting, on behalf of
Lucas who was not present at the meeting, Barry tabled one design for the
sweat shirt for the Apple Festival and Craft Sale in October. The
expectation was that three designs would be available so that one might be
chosen. No one liked the design. Patterson agreed to meet with Joanne

Nichols, who is employed as a sign designer at James Printing and Sign, and
further, to work with her to develop three designs so that one can be chosen
in time for this year's event.
Under "NEW BUSINESS", Hooper reported that he had met with Todd
Tremeer. who originally designed and painted the street murals in the
Downtown. Tremeer stated that there was a need to do some touch-up
restoration on three of the-murals-and that the cost would be $975.
Moved by Hooper, seconded by Mulder,
THAT approval be given to employ Todd Tremeer to do the necessary
touch-up on the three murals identified in the Downtown needing this
work, at a total cost of$975.00.
