at The Town Hall, Main Street Orono

ITEM DESCRIPTION
1, Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Annette Gray at 6:00 p.m.
Chris Townsend took minutes in Victoria's absence.
2. Approval of Agenda
"Move to approve the agenda as presented"

3. Declaration of Conflict of Interest
No conflict was declared.
4. Approval of the September 12, 2012, Orono DBIA Meeting Minutes
There were no minutes received for the September meeting they will need to be approved at next meeting.

5. Guest Presentations - None
6. Old Business:
® Halloween Dance—date is October 27th—pushing forward and need more tickets sold—need to put an
ad in the paper
® Santa Claus Parade—date is November 24th, Lisa Roy is organizing and has made great strides so far.
DBIA Website—Lisa Roy has been doing some updates to the site—If businesses have updates to their
information and any other updates should be forwarded to Lisa at info(a,geekgirlmedia,ca
Antique Festival—Lisa Cowell was not present to provide an update.

6. New Business
a Treasurer Report
$160.00 paid to Apple Blossoms for reimbursement of BIA Bucks.
a Clarington Tourism Board
We probably will not continue attending as it seems very disorganized.
® Chili Cook Off
Only 10 cooks this year but the event went very well—Donations went to the Orono Park 90th celebration,
Gardens and Santa Claus parade
a Councilor Updates
(1) Rotary Club are buying a mobile stage--potentially could be borrowed for events—more info to
come.
(2)A Wind Farm is going ahead north of 61h concession and north to 91h concession—east of 115 hwy.
o CIP Committee
Trying to get new signs for Park&Crown Lands
a Potential Advertising Opportunity
(1) Frank Maitland put forward the possibility of advertising with an Orono sign outside of Mosport-
hopefully to attract Mosport guests to shop at Orono for food, alcohol, shopping, etc. —Wendy Partner will
contact Mosport.
(2) Request to have the old"Dice"Orono signs put back up-Wendy Partner will check into this.
a New Topics for Discussion
Should we send out a questionnaire to DBIA members and include items such as would they like minutes
e-mailed or hand delivered,other items to be included on questionnaire?
a DBIA Executive Update
Elections for all Executive positions (Chairperson, Treasurer&Secretary)will be held at the next meeting
in November. All DBIA members are encouraged to attend this important meeting to stand for a position
or to nominate and vote for members they feel would be an asset to a position.
6.Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. by Annette Gray
