Meeting called to order at 9:30 a.m. 3, November minutes approved as amended by T,Vanhaverbeke,Seconded by K.Bastas. 4. Treasurer's Report:Theresa reported the bank balance as$9260 and is waiting on the Municipal levee. There was a discussion regarding having a separate bank account for the parade funds,it was agreed that it didn't make sense to pay double services fees. Motion by G. Lewis,seconded by C. Peterson. 5. Committee Reports: Safety&D6cor:Theresa got a quote for new banners,same design and more colour of$4000 with approx.a 3 year life expectancy, for an additional$1000 we could get lower banner arms. it was agreed to just get the banners replaced at this time.Valentine suggested having the banners treated for UV protection,Theresa will enquire about this. Advertlsing: Catherine advised the website Is being updated regularly. Special Events: Karen advised we didn't get the grant for Canada Day.She has applied for the Heritage grant but won't hear anything until April. Has to make some decisions regarding entertainment as Elvis Impersonator is$3000. There was a discussion of having a battle of the band or open mic, Diana was going to look Into local options. Festivities are planned to start at 4pm with entertainment and food followed by fireworks at the Rec Centre. Marni is going to continue the Breakfast with Easter Bunny event,It is being planned for April 7,2012: Diana Is going to plan a Fall Festival Committee meeting In March. 6, CBOT: They have a doctor recruitment program on right now where 18 doctors will be doing their residency within the Lakeridge Healthcare system with the hopes that some may stay in the area and start their own practices. They are also working with Council to modify the payment schedules to attract more development to the Clarington area, 7. CIP: Students will be walking around Newcastle February 181x'to gather information to help with their vision of Newcastle. They are meeting at town hall at fpm,and welcome any BIA members who would like to join them. The 4 entrances into Newcastle need to be addressed regarding sign age, as they are failing apart and not in an appealing order. 8. Horticultural Soclety: Mary advised the funds thermometer Is up,they are at$152,000 still need$197,000. This amount doesn't include the Hotel California event coming up on March 31,which is sold out, The work will be getting under way in April, but will not work on the weekends with wedding going on at the hall. A large part of the community has no Idea that this is going on,Catherine suggested putting information about It on the website to inform everyone. 9. Next Meeting march 8,2012 at 9:30a.m. 10.
