Attendance: Theresa Vanhaverbeke,Ann Harley, Catherine Peterson, Karen Bastas,Joyce King, Krista

1. Attendance taken.
2. Meeting called to order at 9:30 a.m.
3. April minutes were accepted with the following changes—Deleted under Special Events:
"The cost of the food was$70 and with funds received the advertising costs were paid the
even broke even" -Replaced with: "The event was close to break-even with only$70 cost to
the BIA . Advertising for the event was included as an expense."

4. Business Arising from Minutes: The old banners are available if anyone would like one they
should see Theresa. Theresa has confirmed that Jen Cooke will print a list of events"flyer"
for Newcastle to hand out in local businesses.
5. Treasurer report: there is currently a balance of$37,000.00 with flowers and banner costs
still to come out
6. Committee Reports:
Banners will go up at the end of May. Jackie is looking into the flowers and Theresa will
follow-up.
Advertising report from Catherine Peterson, we are getting decals for Business windows from
Village Print Shop. The website is being updated with new pictures of the downtown core.
There is a new"blogger"for the website. We should encourage businesses to"like"the
Village of Newcastle on Facebook.
Special Events:
There was a parade meeting and they are working on getting permits. They are changing the
route this year to start at the west end of King Ave. There will be entertainment up and down
the road prior to the parade.The theme is"Santa Comes to Town".
Canada Day is going ahead,they are collecting funds.
Breakfast with Santa is scheduled for November 24, 2032 we are looking for a BIA member to
organize it,otherwise it won't go ahead.
7. CIP was presented to Newcastle April 26, 2012. It was an excellent presentation and BIA
member will get a copy emailed to them.
8. New Business:
BIA will donate $200 to the Concerts in the Park once again this year, motioned by V.
Lovekin, moved by T. Vanhaverbeke.
Ann Harley is printing an advertising booklet for the Bond Head Art Show, she will be looking
for local advertising from Businesses. There will also be shuttle bus service from downtown
Newcastle to Bond Head,Catherine was going to ask our Ambassadors to host tours on the
shuttles.
