1. Call to Order by the Chairman
a. Welcome to special guests,being:
i. Tom Ujfalussy, President of the Newcastle and District Chamber
of Commerce and Kate Hennessy of the Chamber
ii. Sheila Hall and Laura Wood, Clarington Board of Trade

d. Chairman's Report—Valentine Lovekin
What do we bring to the community?The BIA brings business development; our
jobs bring business to the community and downtown core. When all of the
businesses are on the same team it gives Newcastle character. Thank you to
everyone for keeping Newcastle on track.
5. Treasurer's Report and Approval of the 2013 Budget—Theresa Vanhaverbeke

6. Report on Safety and Decor—Jackie Foxall
We entered into a contract for flower care and snow removal with Troy Foster for
the 2012/2013 winter again this year as we did last year. Flower baskets have
been ordered from the Garden Path this year.
Cedar rope was purchased and installed on light posts by the Scouts as part of the
Christmas decor. Shear Display continues to hold the contract for banner
installation/removal and for Christmas wreath installation/removal.
7. Report on Advertising—Catherine Peterson
The Village of Newcastle website is now Smart phone ready. Stats for the site are
on average 2000 hits per month, with 1800 being new visitors, Last year stats
were 600 visits/month. B1A members are still invited to advertise on the site for
price - $200/year.
8. Report on Special Events—Karen Bastas
Canada Day planning is under way, with a Derby event as the main focus at the
Rec Centre. The committee will be looking for volunteers and sponsors.
The Santa parade was a huge hit, you can expect bigger and better next year.
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is cancelled this year due to Town Hall being
booked. Diana Stephenson is planning the 1't Annual Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt
on March 30, details and registration forms will be emailed to all members. This
is a new event to get the community downtown and in your businesses,please see
how you can get involved.
The Fall Festival Committee headed by Diana Stephenson will be looking for a
few extra volunteers to help make this event successful.
Breakfast with Santa will be the 4 I Saturday in November this year and the
Vatandoust team with organize it again this year.
