Attendance: V.LOVEKIN, K.BASTAS, T.VANHAVERBEKE, G.LEWIS, S.LAWRENCE,

Regrets: W.PARTNER, D.MILLER, J.FOXALL,J.CLAPPERTON
1. Meeting called to order at 9:35 a.m. by the President.
2. Approval of May Minutes: Motion:L.Forget Seconded:J.King CARRIED
3. President's Report: Aim to keep the meetings within the hour timeframe.
There will be no August meeting.
4. Treasurer's Report: Balance: $25,410.86. Many outstanding invoices. Full
budget items and balance at July meeting.
5. Committee Reports;
Safety & Decor; Flower baskets & banners will be up before July 1St
Advertising: Website: Many businesses still need to respond with their
information. Advertising for Canada Day is in Village Voice, Rona
Newsletter, posters and road sign.
Special Events: Volunteers are need for Canada Day, especially in evening
for the Fireworks. BIA members are asked to submit flyers or coupons to
Jane for the BIA booth to advertise their specials or business. Most events
are free and community is asked to donate to help with fireworks costs.
Suggestions are needed for Fall Festival to make it successful and special.
Need more volunteers to plan on the committee for that day( first
Saturday,of October). Entertainment/Dinner is all planned for the evening.
6. CBOT: no report
7. Chamber News: Morning Seminar: Thurs.June 23rd, 8-10 a.m. in Newcastle
Town Hall--Free Admission.
Check Website for details and registration.
8. CIP: no report
9. New Business: The gardens outside the Hall are started as some trees have
been removed. Some trees are marked for future removal. Ongoing
donations accepted as the grant does not cover all the costs.
The new building west of the bank is going forward. No word yet as to what
grocery store it will be. There are some smaller business spaces(500-600
sq.ft.) now available downtown to lease.
10. A letter will be sent to the Hall Board by the Secretary requesting the use
of the Chamber Room for the BIA meetings through the year. The 2011
dates will be July 14th, no Aug meeting, Sept,8th,Oct.13",Nov.loth, Dec 8th
Meeting times to be determined at the July meeting.
11. Next business meeting is Thursday, July 14th at 9:30 a.m.
