MILLER,C.PETERSON Regrets: V.LOVBKIN,W.PART TR 1. Meeting called to order at 9:30a.m. 2. Minutes approved by J.Foxall, Seconded by G.Lewis. 3. President's report unavailable at present. 4. Treasurers report: Bank Balance$19,300. $8,000 has been budgeted for the Santa Parade. There will be a September meeting regarding the Budget. A Person from each NDBIA commitee should be present. Proposed Thursday Sept 15`h at 9:30am for budget meeting. Committee Reports: S. Final invoice for The Village of Newcastle web site is$1200. The NDBIA Web site is www,Villageofnewcastle.ca and is linked to Clarington. 6. The hanging baskets are paid for. Several baskets were replaced. A new contract with Shear Display was presented regarding installation and removal of wreaths including repair. Install/removat/storage/maintenance of barriers for$4200.00 for 2011/2012 was approved. Troy has been paid for snow removal but not for watering of hanging baskets. Troy will be asked if he would be.willing to take down the hanging baskets. 7. Special Events Committees have everything under control. Fall Festival. The Newcastle House is on board this year with a hamburger eating contest. There will be a few midway rides. Prime Rib will be served for dinner at the Shania Twain and Neil Diamond show. Suggested Scarecrow making contest from all NDBZA members. 8. Santa's Parade committed has had several meeting and is going really well. They are still looking for a sponsor for the Santa Float. November 26a`is the date for breakfast with Santa. 9. Position available for an event coordinator as of Jan Ist,2012 as Karen will be partially retiring and will only chair the Santa Claus Parade and the Canada Day Event in 2012. The candidate does not have to be a BIA member and would be chairing the Easter and Cluistmas breakfast events(or these would be discontinued)and the Fall Festival. 10. On Tuesday October 250'from 7:30am to 9:30am there will be a workshop for Orono,Newcastle and Bowmanviile BIA's at the Orono town hall. All welcome to come and learn from the other comrnunities. $15 fee includes coffee and treats. On November 15ffi at 7pm-9pm there will be a shop local workshop at Courtice recreational complex.All welcome,$15 fee includes coffee and treats and great speaker. Clarington Board of Trade requires new rep on BIA. Greg Lewis agreed. CIP meets quarterly, no report this meeting. 11. No Chamber news. 12: New Business. Web site is up and running. All Businesses need to promote on their web sites. If you have a web site please link to iA,ww.villa eofnewcastle.ca. Check out the blog called"Porch talk" on the website. Take the time to"like"us on Face book. 13. 131A member are asked to acknowledge Ambassadors at Fall Festival. 14. GO commuter parking lot is under construction at Huy 115 and Hwy#2. 15. Horticultural Society is holding a Brunch on October 23r1 at the Newcastle Community Hall to raise 'funds for the Heritage Garden Fund.Durham College Culinary students will be cooking, Two sittings are available from 10:30 to 12 noon and 12:30 pm to 2:OOpm. Tickets available at$20.00 per person from Gabrielle Bell: 905 987-3856. The Heritage Garden Fund is still looking for donations from the coirununity.They have a Trillium Grant but still need to raise funds from the community to reach their goal.
