Attendance: 44 members and guests at Massey House Restaurant at 6:00 p.m.
Thanks to Gus and Karen Bastas for the delicious dinner.
1. After dinner the meeting was called to order by the President at 7:30 p.m.
2. Greetings from Gord Robinson, Chamber of Commerce, Sheila Hall-Economic
Development, Elaine Garnet of CBOT.
A gift was presented to Amos Langley for his dedicated service to the BIA.
3. Approval of Minutes from the 2009 Annual Meeting: J.Foxail Seconded: S.Lawrence
CARRIED
4. Approval of the BIA Actions of the Board of Directors:J.Bugelli Seconded:
T.Vanhaverbeke CARRIED
5. President's Report: Valentine Lovekin stated the BIA Executive is elected until the end of
2010. At the 2011 Annual Meeting. Elections will be held. He thanked Jane Black and
Effie MacDonald for all their efforts in assisting him as President.
6. Treasurer's Report: The 2010 Budget was presented. With West End money added the
total income for 2009 was$52,524. The request for money from the town is $25,000.
Motion to accept 2010 Budget: G.Lewis Seconded:T.Vanhaverbeke CARRIED
Motion to accept the Treasurer's Report: C.Peterson Seconded: G.Gallacher CARRIED
7. Committee Reports:
Urban Planning: New banners have been ordered. Rekkers will provide the flower
baskets. Wreaths were all up for Christmas.
Advertising: Radio ads were well received in July and August. All funding was spent on
radio, print ads, posters &flyers for events and Visitor's Guide.
Special Events: Easter Bunny Breakfast, Fall Festival,Santa Breakfast, Santa Parade were
all successful events.There will be a Canada event June 26th to highlight Newcastle-
Canada: Past& Present with activities and entertainment for all. Most will be free.
8. New Business:Judy Clapperton presented ideas to market Newcastle and develop a
tagline for our town. Bring ideas to the next meeting.
