BOARD OF MANAGEMENT SOWMANVILLE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Management held at 6:30 p. m., on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in a meeting room C-1 at the Bowmanville Library. Present: Gilpin , (Angela)Beez, (Nick) Burd (CBS Group Inc.) Members: Lucas,Pedder,Barry, Seaton,Hooper Absent: Patterson,Allin, Vella The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, who then recognized CBS Group Inc., Bocz and Burd, as a delegation. Becz circulated a report summarizing the services rendered in 2009. She went on to suggest that to keep the website directory up to date, that direction be given to the members E in the Highlights as often as possible. For her part, she reported that they call everyone on the directory once a year to see if they are still in business in the downtown. It was agreed that Barry, in his role as Director of Membership Relations, forward information about new members to Becz. Gilpin agreed to ask Peter Parrott to forward new photos of the events so that the website could be revise to look more up to date. It was also suggested that larger pictures be use on the first page, and loss written information. Moved by Hooper, seconded by Barry, THAT the Minutes of the previous meeting be adopted as circulated. "CARRIED" Correspondence was received from Visual Arts Centre, CBS Group Inc. Municipality of Clarington, Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre, R. Hooper and Samuel Wilmot Nature Area. Page 2 Moved by Barry, seconded by Seaton, THAT the correspondence be received and filed. "CARRIED" . The Treasurer presented his'report as follows: Current Account $ 13,276.23 GIC #1 25,022.00 GIC #2 20,202,37 Total $ 58,500.60 Moved by Pedder, seconded by Seaton, THAT the Treasurer's Report be adopted as presented. "CARDED" Reports: Council Liaison: Hooper reported that Walmart is scheduled to begin construction in October 2009, and be open for' business in the Spring of 2010. Events: No report. Membership Relations: No report. Streetscape: Pedder reported that the flowers in the Downtown look great, as do the banners, and that the area looks clean thanks to the good,fob that June Birmington is doing. Communications: No report. Publications: No report, Board of Trade: No report. , Page 3 Security Alert: No report. Web Site; Report given earlier in the meeting. Under "BUSMESS ARISING" from the previous meeting, Hooper stated that he is still- waiting for an answer from Len Creamer, the Chief By-law Officer, concerning labels being placed on the parking meter heads advertising that parking is flee in the Downtown on Saturday and Sunday. He said that he would pursue the matter with Creamer again: Under "NEW BUSINESS", Hooper thanked those involved who helped following their store robbery last year. It was recommended that Vella be asked to.update the Security ,Alert Call List as some of the businesses currently listed are-no longer in business, and to email a copy to each of the businesses involved, This should occur every three months as the businesses in the Downtown change regularly. Lucas is to speak to Vella regarding this request. Moved by Pedder, seconded by Seaton, THAT the Meeting be adjourned.
