BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
BOWMANVILLE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA
Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Management held at 6:30 p. M.
on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 in Committee Room l-C M the Bowmanville
Library.
Present: Gilpin, Collis (Ron),Becz(Angela--CBS Group)
Members: Hooper, Pedder,Patterson, Barry
Absent: Lucas, Vella, Seaton,Allin
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, who then recognized.the
following delegations
S Angela Becz of CBS Group demonstrated- the revised website,
5 www.bowmanvillo.com. Suggestions were then offered to further improve
.its usefulness,
Ron Collis of Collis & Reed Research presented an up-date on our research
project. Over 46 businesses have agreed to participate which will give both
an individual and a collective indication of where our customers live, by
Postal Code.
Jessica Argyle from the newly proposed Bowmanville Life magazine
circulated a package showing the format of this new publication. It will
have full colour, will list anything that is happening in the area, will include
information about businesses located in the downtown., and will be
delivered by Canada. Post to 24,500 hot-nos its Clarington. It may bo
published monthly or quarterly. Advertisers will be given a 50% reduction
in cost in the first issue, a 25% reduction in the second and then a lesser
reduced rate for the rest of the first year.

Correspondence was received from the Municipality of'Clarington and
Collis & Reed Research.

THAT the correspondence be received and filed. "CARRIED"
The Treasurer presented his report as follows:

Moved by Patterson, seconded by Pedder,
THAT the Treasurer's Report be adopted as presented, "CARRIED"
Reports:
Council Liaison; Hooper reported that Council had approved the free bus
service for the Apple Festival and Craft Sale hi October.
Events: Patterson reported that the Easter Egg Hunt was a success. The
weather was perfect. About 530 children participated between 10 'a. m. and
2 p. m. The map was not well used,

Membership Relations: Barry reported that a new record store had opened. -, �

Streetscape: Pedder stated that he had been in contact with the President of
the Bowmanville Horticultural Society.
Communications: Patterson reported that the Maple Festival posters will be
distributed to the businesses in the downtown on Wednesday,,A.pril. 14.
Publications: Patterson said that the current issue of the Bowmanville
Downtowner will be included in the April 21 edition of Clarington This
Weep.
Board of Trade: Barry reported that the Annual Meeting of the Board of
Trade will take place next week.
Security/Alert: No report.
Website: No report.

THAT the Meeting be adjourned, "CARRIED"
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Committee
Room 1-C in the Bowmanville Library at 6:30 p. rn.

he-was unable to attend a meeting, that Seaton or Lucas would attend in his
place.
Next the Chairman observed that no nominations had been received of late
for the "Award for Special Initiative". It was agreed that if a printed version
of this document can be located, that the following businesses should be
given this recognition: Gather, Lang's Photo, and Second Chance.
