1. The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by the President.
2. Guest: Tony Edwards from the Toronto Star(Sales/Ads)
He explained the choices/prices for ads in the Living Section on
Thursdays and Saturdays aimed at readers in our area.
3. Motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting.
Moved: K.Bastas Seconded: J.Foxall CARRIED
4.' Business Arising from the minutes: It was discussed who repairs
damage to the flowers and what side to hang them on next year.
It was agreed to order 16 inch baskets that are water tolerant.
Letters were sent to local garden centres to present a quote.
5. President's Report: There was an invitation to attend the `Gates Open'
Party on Sept. 23rd
We are awaiting a reply from the Orono BIA for our letter regarding
the West End Development money.
6. Treasurer's Report: Balance: $20,972.71
There are 2 outstanding invoices. If not paid, the Town will handle.
Motion to approve: T. Fitzgerald Seconded: D.Hickson CARRIED
Chairs of Committees are to submit budget reports for 2009.
7. Santa Claus Parade:
Sunday, Nov. 23rd. Permits for road closures and
fireworks have been submitted. There is a need for volunteers to help.
There is a concern about the presence of"street hawkers" and if the
bylaws can be enforced to monitor them or if the parade needs them to
be present.
( Martha Hendrikx will submit the Action Plan for the next meeting.

8. Committee Reports:
Urban Planning: There was positive feedback on the banner proposal.
The committee gave a report and did a thorough investigation. There
was a concern on how and when business names would appear if used
on the street banners. They will discuss a payment plan and then have
a vote by email from the businesses.
Advertising: the Toronto Star ad was discussed.

The BIA approves an ad in Clarington this Week on Oct. 1 sc and in the
Toronto Star for insertion in the Living Section on Saturday, Sept. 27'h
and fiu ther investigate ads and costs for Oct. and Nov. CARRIED
Special Events: Chair: K.Bastas
The Fall Festival is Sat. Oct.3, 4. More volunteers are needed,
Karen met with the Lion's Club.
Gord Robinson has secured a donation of a shuttle service
back and forth from the new Rec.Centre in the afternoon from
Phoenix Transportation.
i' He also has received major donations from Lindvest Developments,
Barr's Roofing and OPG.
Greek Feast and dance will be in the evening at 6:30 p.m.
Local businesses are asked to donate prizes for the silent auction.
Large boulevard signs will be placed at the entrance to town in
three locations to advertise the event.
