Res. # By -Law # MEETING: General Purpose and Administration Committee DATE: November 20, 19 8 9 REPORT #: PD -296 -89 FILE #: SUBJECT: EXTENSION OF DRAFT APPROVAL PENWEST DEVELOPMENTS LIMITED PART LOT 91 CONCESSION 1, FORMER TOWN OF BOWMANVILLE OUR FILE: 18T -76011 RECOMMENDATIONS: It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and Administration Committee recommend to Council the following: 1. THAT Report PD- 296 -89 be received; and 2. THAT the Minister of Municpal Affairs be advised that the Town of Newcastle has no objections to the extension of draft approval for Subdivision 18T -76011 for a further one (1) year period to January 29, 1991. 1. BACKGROUND: 1.1 A copy of the attached letter was received by the Planning and Development Department on October 25, 1989. The letter, addressed to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, noted that draft approval with respect to Plan 18T -76011 as revised will lapse on January 29, 1990 pursuant to the Planning Act unless an extension is granted prior to the lapsing date. The Ministry if now considering to grant such an extension. Accordingly, Ministry Staff request confirmation of the status of the Plan of Subdivision as previously recommended for approval by the Town of Newcastle. ..2 549 1.2 Staff would note for the Committee's information that the conditions of draft approval as previously issued are consistent with Town Policy in the review of Plans of Subdivision. 1.3 Staff would confirm for the Committee's information that the Owner has proceeded to date in the registration of three (3) separate plans of development. The remaining pahse is subject to the requirements of a Stormwater Management Study. This study is being finalized through the Town's involvement with land owners in the immediate vicinity affected by the study perimeters. 1.4 In consideration of the above -noted comments, Staff would have no objections to the extension of draft plan approval for a further one (1) year period to January 29, 1990 with respect to Plan 18T- 76011. If you wish an extension to the draft approval, please send us a request with an accompanying explanation with copies to the Town of Newcastle and the Region of Durham. In order to identify any potential problems, I suggest you discuss the extension with the Ajax Planning Department. By copy of this letter we are asking both Newcastle and Durham to advise us of their position on the extension request. If we do not hear from them we will assume they do not have concerns. a Please be advised that draft approval cannot be renewed once it has lapsed.
