THAT Report PD -59 -95 be received for information. 1. The Clarington Official Plan Review process has now progressed to a stage where Staff is ready to bring forward a report to deal with all the public submissions to the Clarington Draft Official Plan. 2. In order to conform to the requirements of the Planning Act, a public meeting must be held and those who made submissions and other persons be given the opportunities to speak at the public meeting. Prior to the public meeting being held, notices must be served 30 days in advance. This effectively will cause the public meeting to be held at the earliest, in the early part of July. However, scheduling any public meeting in prime vacation months of July and August would not be convenient to a fair number of individuals involved in the process. In addition, there is a real concern that there may not be a quorum as the matter is further complicated by the possibility of the loss of a Council member as a result of the Provincial election. W REPORT NO. PD -59 -95 PAGE 2 3. Having considered the above, and subsequent to consultation with the Chief Administrative Officer and the Chairperson of Planning, it was concluded that the public meeting should be held over to September. In this regard, we have selected September 14 and 15. Public notice will be sent out prior to August 14, 1995. 4. The postponement of the public meeting will most likely delay the delivery of the Official Plan before year end. Respectfully submitted, (j tl e-'- " —, C'g,- Franklin Wu, M.C.I.P.
