Subject: CLARINGTON OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW
STATUS REPORT
Recommendations:
It is respectfully recommended that the General Purpose and
Administration Committee recommend to Council the following:
1. THAT Report PD -26 -94 be received for information.
REPORT:
1. Subsequent to completion of Stage 2 of the Official Plan
Review Process in November of 1993, Staff have immediately
moved on to the Stage 3 work which involves the preparation of
the Draft Official Plan for the Municipality of Clarington.
2. This stage of official plan work represents the most critical
stage in that all previous studies and analysis, public input,
provincial and regional government policies are being refined
in the determination of the appropriate planning policies for
the municipalities.
3. In order to meet the objective of producing a draft official
plan within the three year term of this Council, Staff have
given the Official Plan Review top priority for the past few
months as well as for the next few months. At the same time,
staff will endeavour to address other urgent planning matters.

4. Attached to this report is a tentative timetable leading to
the delivery of the draft official plan. As work progresses,
I will be in a position to confirm the key dates.
5. From a timing perspective, the Official Plan Review is behind
schedule by about one to two months. This is due to the fact
that two of the Departments senior staff personnel have been
committed in the preparation and attendance at the Markborough
hearing which is still ongoing.
