SUBJECT: Tennis Courts - Courtice Secondary School Grounds n ;
T. A. Fanning, Director of Community Services, Glen
Holmes, District Superintendant of Maintenance for the
Northumberland and Newcastle School Board and Jack
Dunham, Director of Public Works met in Hampton on
Friday morning June 23rd at 9:00 a. m. #'
The Director of Public Works informed us that there is
no problem regarding the widening' of Courtice Road and
Nash Road. Mr. Dunham has checked this out with
Mr. W. Price of the Durham Region Works Department.
If the west side of Courtice Road was to be widened, it would
be an extra 17ft. It would not affect the School
property. Mr. Dunham also mentioned that Nash Road could
be widened to an extra 10 ft. , probably five years from now.
This would not effect school property.
The courts would be built 30' from Nash Road and Courtice
Road. Glen Holmes and the Director of Community Services
measured out the Tennis Court Area and the courts fit
right in the north east area of the School Grounds.
We have notified the Planning Department of the Tennis
Courts and there is no problem there.
x
Glen Holmes is drawing a plan description of the proposed
courts which we should receive within two weeks.
Recommend that a meeting between the School Board and
the Community Services Committee be arranged and that the
Town Treasurer investigate into funds re Wintario and
other sources of finance.
Attached a diagram of the proposed Tennis Courts.
