On October 7th, 1980, staff met with D. L. Trumbley and
R. Malanczyj in the Committee Room of the Bell Building
regarding the above-mentioned subject .
At that time, former Town Manager, A. Guiler informed the
undersigned to present this letter to the Town Treasurer,
Mayor G. B. Rickard, Councillor M. Prout and the Town
Manager in January during Budget discussions .
Please find attached the letter from the Durham Heal
Unit .

Dear Mr. Pinning :
This letter is to confirm our meeting and discussions, on 0oLnbcr
7th, 1980, concerning the above-noted promises. In this regard, we have
listed our recommendations below, with the understanding that some of these
matters are already being looked into. '
Darlington Sports Centre
l. The rouorcLc floors and walls in Uhn Jc'zsiog romo/` should he |xdnLcd
with a washable enamel, in order to provide a non-absorbent, easily

cleanable surface.
2. The lighting in the dressing zooms and adjoining washrooms, should be
improved to provide a minimum of JO foot candles of illumination, in

nzdcz to facilitate proper olcauimJ.
Memorial Park pool
l' The concrete floors in the dressing rooms should be painted with a wash-
able enamel, in order to provide n uno-nbsuzbrvt, easily cleanable sur-
face.

l. In order to maintain luzoDez fzpc available chlorine and y8 levels in the
pool water, the following recommendations should be considered:
(a) zryalz and maintain the automatic chlorinator (yco yuyo 8 of cuoIoouze) /
(b) ensure that the pool oDoznLoz 1s present during the cuiiry period the
pool is open to the public;
(r) use of chlorinated cyanuzics to stabilize the oblnzioc (uoo page 5 of
enclosure) .

2. Palin D.P.D. and pH test kits should be provided at all the swimming
pools. The Orthotoledane test kit does not provide true Free Available
Chlorine readings (see page 4 of enclosure) . °

Orono Park Snack Bar.
1. A separate handwashing basin is required in the food preparation area.
A liquid soap dispenser, paper towel dispenser and waste receptacle,
are required near the hand sink.
2. A ventilation canopy is required over the cooking equipment. This
canopy should have at least a 9" overhang of the cooking equipment.
The canopy should be constructed of either stainless steel or polished
aluminum. The wall behind the cooking equipment must be protected with
a splasliguard constructed of stainless steel or polished aluminum.

3. A vinyl baseboard is required in the food preparation area.
