The Municipal Clerk displayed photographs which have been taken of most of
the abandoned cemeteries.
Bob Genosko advised that the Operations Department looks after the
maintenance of six abandoned cemeteries in the former Clarke Township.
Discussion ensued as to the best method to clean up some of the sites. It was
agreed that the Committee would begin with Cemetery #30 (Coulter-Hamilton
Family Plot) and #32 (Gifford Family Plot). John Bate indicated that he would
contact Dale Jenkins and request a quote for the clean up of Cemetery #32.
Bob Genosko indicated that he would determine what maintenance the
Operations Department has performed on Cemetery #24 (Gilmore Family Plot).
Blair Smythe agreed to speak with the residents of the property of Cemetery #31
(Coulter-Hamilton Family Plot) and determine what work is needed.
It was agreed that a tour would be scheduled for early fall in order to view the
cemeteries of the former Township of Darlington. John Bate reported that he
would schedule a date and time and look after booking a bus.
The meeting adjourned at 11:00 a.m.
