REPORT COD-019-o5 PAGE 2 BACKGROUND AND COMMENT Council at the meeting of March 14, 2005 authorized staff to proceed wilh the advertising and issue of this tender in advance of the 2005 Capital Budget approval. Tenders were publicly advertised and called for the Supply and Haul of Granular "A" and "B", and Haul, Slockpile and Spread Granular "A" Gravel, as required by Ihe Operalions Department. Subsequently, lenders were received and tabulated as follows: Robert Young Construclion Pelerborou h, Ontario CDR Young's Aggregales Inc, Pont 001, Onlario Lafarge Materials & Conslruction Stouffville, Ontario $400,170,00 $421,920.00 $462,720.00 The lotal funds required for Tender CL2005-7, Supply and Haul of Granular "A" and "B", and Haul, Stockpile and Spread Granular "A" Gravel, are included in the Operations Department Gravel Patching and Resurfacing accounl, as well as various other construction accounts, For the information of Council, the unit prices per tonne for Part A and Part B represent an average 4% increase over those bid for 2004, The low bidder has previously performed satisfactorily for the Municipality of Clarington, The Director of Finance has reviewed the funding requirements and concurs with the recommendation, Queries with respect to department needs, specifications, etc" should be referred to the Director of Operations, Due to Ihe urgent nalure of these projecls, forthwith approval is requested 10 ensure thai the work is completed as early as possible in the construction season, CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CLARINGTON 40 TEMPERANCE STREET, BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO L 1C 3A6 T(905)623-3379 F (905)623-3330
